HAZLET – Officials in Hazlet are sustaining a ban on the institution of marijuana businesses in the municipality.

Earlier this summer season, the Township Committee adopted an ordinance that prohibits all cannabis institutions, cultivators, distributors, supply providers and medical marijuana dispensaries from working in Hazlet by amending and supplementing the municipality’s growth assessment ordinance.

The supply of cannabis and/or associated cannabis provides to Hazlet addresses by a supply service that’s based mostly exterior of the township can be permitted.

The Township Committee’s motion adopted the enactment of the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory, Enforcement Assistance, and Marketplace Modernization Act, also referred to as A-21, which was handed by state legislators in February after a majority of New Jersey residents voted in November 2020 to approve a constitutional modification to legalize marijuana.

The laws legalizes the leisure use (also referred to as grownup use) of marijuana by sure adults; it decriminalizes the possession of small quantities of marijuana and cannabis (a marijuana focus); and it removes marijuana as a Schedule I (excessive potential for abuse) drug.

A-21 established six market lessons of licensed marijuana businesses: cultivator, producer, wholesaler, distributor, retailer and supply.
