Police have charged two men after they have been allegedly discovered to be carrying 85kg of cannabis behind a Pantech truck near Byron Bay yesterday.

Police connected to Byron Bay Highway Patrol stopped the automobile about 11.25pm (Thursday, 19 November, 2020), on the Pacific Highway, Ewingsdale, for a visitors offence.

Upon talking with the 23-year-old driver and his 24-year-old passenger, police grew to become suspicious and searched the rear of the truck.

Officers allegedly discovered 186 packages of cannabis with a complete weight of 85kg.

The men have been arrested and brought to Byron Bay Police Station the place they have been each charged with provide prohibited drug larger than industrial amount, and drug possession.

They have been refused bail and can seem in Ballina Local Court toady (Friday, 20 November, 2020).
