The Navajo Nation Department of Justice is suing Shiprock resident Dineh Benally and two businesses, alleging they’re rising and advertising and marketing industrial hemp on the Navajo Nation.
The lawsuit was introduced in a press launch from the division, stating it was filed on June 11 within the Shiprock Judicial District court docket.
According to the press launch, Benally, together with the Native American Agriculture Company and the Navajo Gold Company, have been rising, producing, manufacturing, transporting, licensing and promoting industrial hemp on tribal land.
The division additionally alleges the events have been unlawfully issuing land use permits to overseas entities to develop and domesticate industrial hemp. Such actions are unlawful on tribal land, the discharge states.
